Education and Experience:
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies from Stockton University in 2016; however, after working at my University’s counseling center for four years, I decided to follow my passion for the helping professions and pursue a career as a therapist. I earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling with a concentration in clinical mental health from Montclair State University in 2019, and became licensed as an Associate Counselor in the state of New Jersey shortly after. Throughout my graduate education and professional experience as an LAC, I have worked extensively with children, adolescents, young adults and families in a variety of clinical settings, including a hospital, outpatient clinic, and in the home and community.
My Philosophy and Treatment Approach:
I have always been fascinated by the mind-body connection, which has led me to practice from a holistic standpoint that aims to improve health and wellness as a whole. This includes addressing mental health as well as physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and intellectual wellness throughout the counseling process. I believe it is necessary to consider all of these areas in order to improve health now and maintain healthy habits throughout the lifetime.
I also approach the counseling process with the belief that the client and counselor should be viewed as equals in the therapeutic relationship. As the client, you are the expert on your life, and my role as the counselor is to establish a safe space filled with warmth, trust, and optimism that fosters self-understanding and independence. My approach to therapy is deeply rooted in person- centered, strengths-based philosophies; however, specific interventions and techniques used will vary depending on your individual needs. I often utilize art therapy techniques, expressive arts, mindfulness-based cognitive therapies, play therapy, and trauma-focused interventions while in session – just to name a few.
