Therapist in Houston, Texas, Amanda Deligiannis, LCSW

Amanda Deligiannis, LCSW

Amanda is a licensed social worker who strongly believes that people are the experts of their own lives and is passionate about working together to reach common goals. She empathizes with how intimidating it can be to begin and work through therapy, and strives to help individuals feel comfortable and valued the moment they enter the room. Amanda roots her therapeutic practice in Person in Environment theory, understanding that individuals are impacted not only by their own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, but also by everything around them. Depending on client development, preferences, and effectiveness, she draws strategies from cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy, play therapy, and mindfulness-based tools. Amanda is also trained in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics. Amanda’s clinical interests include children with anxiety disorders, attachment challenges, regulation difficulties, problematic behaviors, and trauma. She especially enjoys collaborating with families to strengthen lasting child-parent relationships and discover ways to make daily experiences therapeutic. As a former music teacher, Amanda also understands the unique challenges of teens and adults involved in the performing and fine arts, as well as those navigating career transitions. Amanda earned her Bachelor of Music Education from DePaul University School of Music and taught music to children throughout Chicago. During her teaching career she became passionate about education inequity as well as childhood trauma, which inspired her to complete a Master of Social Work from Loyola University. Since that time, she has gained extensive clinical experience in a variety of settings, including the Cook County Public Defender’s office, the emergency room and intensive care unit at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, and outpatient therapy with children and families in an interdisciplinary pediatric therapy clinic. In her free time, you can find Amanda listening to live music, exploring Houston’s food scene, or enjoying a walk through nature.
