Amanda is academically and clinically trained as a Licensed New Jersey Associate Counselor and is currently obtaining a Ph.D. in Psychology-Developmental at Liberty University. Amanda holds an Ed.S in Professional Counseling from Seton Hall University, Masters of Arts in Counseling from Seton Hall University, Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Wilmington University and an Associates in Liberal Arts with concentrations in Accounting and Finance from Burlington County College. Amanda is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the American Counseling Association and the Black Mental Health Alliance. Amanda has extensive experience working with women’s trauma, mood disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders and dual diagnosis in both a higher level of care Intensive Outpatient setting and in Community Counseling settings. Currently Amanda treats anxiety, depression, and cultural identity issues. Amanda currently serves the adult population ages 22 and up. As a therapist, Amandas goal is to create a safe, welcoming space for clients to share their story in a non-judgmental environment, where they can feel heard, understood, and validated. While providing support to clients, Amanda will assist in identifying the stage of change a client is in, so collaboratively, measurable and achievable goals are easier to identify. Amandas therapeutic approach is a combination of tools, skills, techniques and principles of DBT paired with Psychodynamics. Therapeutically, Amanda uses psychodynamics to identify unconscious motivations that can affect behavior, identify past experiences while exploring how they are affecting the present and develop insight and emotional understanding so the client can gain a better understanding of their feelings, beliefs, and childhood experiences. Amanada’s therapeutic approach relies heavily on exploring a clients childhood relationships and experiences to strengthen self-understanding and break self-defeating cycles, address issues with avoidance and improve the clients understanding of relationship dynamics. Amanda is best suited for clients who are open to exploring their childhood, family dynamics, and past experiences in depth through open ended talk therapy and weekly DBT incorporated aftercare practices. Amandas philosophy is, I can’t run the race for my clients, but I can and will run alongside each of them, supporting them and cheering them on until they feel they are able to run the race alone. In her free time Amanda enjoys listening to music, catching up on the latest episodes of Yellowstone with her husband and catching some shut eye with her rescued fur baby.
