When you enter a therapy session with Amanda, you’ll enter into a nonjudgmental, culturally respectful, warm, and safe space. When you meet, she’ll will invite you to introduce yourself using gender pronouns to create open communication about identity. You’ll experience empathy as Amanda empowers you to access your internal strengths to take charge of your own healing and growth.
Amanda takes an individualized approach with each client to meet them where they’re at. Her clients can improve life stresses and difficulties, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, identity challenges, obsessive compulsive disorder, disordered eating, and LGBTQ+ issues. She helps clients to recognize patterns in their lives, and to figure out what is and isn’t serving them well.
Amanda works from a relational approach, meaning she believes that fulfilling relationships are essential to our well-being. Techniques she uses in session include trust building, active listening, and humor”when appropriate. Clients will be provided with psychoeducation to gain self-awareness and insight. Identification and use of coping skills (e.g., mindfulness, art, music, relational coping) will be an important part of therapy, as well as take-home activities to practice in between sessions. Modalities Amanda employs include NMT (Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics) to assess the impact of trauma and relationship functioning, ACT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Interpersonal Therapy.
