Amy Frechette, LICSW

Amy is the mother to two daughters and a spunky German Shepard “Scout”. in 199_ she started a career with the United States Army serving as a Civil Affairs Specialist. This career path focused on humanitarian aid, community project sustainability and the development of relationships among local communities, government, and humanitarian agencies. Prior to 2016 females in Civil Affairs were unable to participate in active duty service as it required Special Forces or Army Ranger training. These gender based career limitations instilled in Amy a passion for advocacy and led her to choose a career in Social Work.

Amy graduated from LimeStone University, Gaffney S.C. with my Bachelors in Social Work. After brief employment working for Lutheran Hospice and specializing in end of life and grief therapy, she moved to New Hampshire to pursue a graduate program at the University of New Hampshire while serving as a reservist in the Army. While in graduate school Amy worked as a clinical case manager and therapist at Child and Family Services. There she gained experience working with youth ages 13-18 who were associated with the judicial system or foster care. The work entailed providing individual and group therapy to include; recreational, substance use assessment, adjustment disorders, and substance abuse disorders to children needing day treatment/group home level care. This also included collaborative services with youth guardians and professionals.

Upon graduating with her Masters in Social Work in 2015, Amy started working as a Clinical Social Worker providing therapy, clinical case management, and emergency services in service of Riverbend Mental Health / Concord Hospital. During her time working in a community mental health center the therapy Amy provided primarily focused on: DBT; CBT; EMDR; exposure therapy office/community; recreational therapy; and suicide prevention assessments.

In 2017, Amy became a full-time employee of the Manchester, NH Department of Veteran Affairs Hospital as a Clinical Case Manager in the HUD/VASH program focusing on Veteran mental health, suicide, intervention, support and the development of awareness for veteran mental health issues among the community and first responders through trainings and events. Amy currently serves as the Manchester VA’s senior Suicide Prevention Coordinator.

After becoming licensed in the State of New Hampshire in 2018, Amy became a team leader for a case management team. She has completed license supervision training for Mental Health interns and supervision of Licensure Candidates. While working in the community mental health Amy has also assisted program development and project management through clinical work as a part-time mobile crisis clinician for two Community Mental Health Agencies serving New Hampshire communities. Amy continues to serve in the Army Reserves commissioned as a Medical Corps Officer providing mental health fitness for duty and mental health support to service members and family.
