Andrea Burns is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a nationally Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor who earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from Lincoln Christian University and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services. Andrea is a member of the American Counseling Association. She has a history of working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in a non-profit community-based setting for several years.

During her time at the non-profit agency, Andrea served as a clinical supervisor for other clinicians, as well as a therapist for their intensive outpatient counseling program. Andrea specializes in treating trauma, anger and conflict management, anxiety, stress-related disorders, depression, emotional distress, relational/behavioral issues, adjustment to life changes, grief and loss, as well as helping individuals navigate through spiritual concerns.

Andrea’s goal is to create a safe, open and non-judgmental environment for individuals to feel comfortable expressing themselves and to work through difficult and complex issues. She utilizes a number of strategies to engage individuals, couples, and families in treatment, including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused, trauma based therapy (CPT and EMDR), and family therapies. She believes in and facilitate a strength-based approach to treatment, allowing the individual to develop and recognize their personal strengths. When working with small children, play therapy is utilized and family involvement is encouraged. She is passionate about helping individuals gain greater insight and self-awareness and work toward making certain changes in order to experience greater satisfaction in their lives.
