Angela Forand, PhD

Dr. Angela Forand earned her BA from the University of Georgia. She completed her Masters degree and Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Georgia with a specialty in Child and Adolescent Psychology. For more than 30 years, she worked at the William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute, the child and adolescent hospital for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. During her time at Hall Institute, she served in a variety of positions. She provided direct patient care to hospitalized adolescents. She was a supervisor and trainer for pre-doctoral psychology interns. She developed and managed the first adolescent Residential Treatment Facility for the Department of Mental Health, located at Hall Institute which was in operation for more than 20 years. For more than 11 years, she served as the Director of Hall Institute. Prior to her retirement, she also served as the Assistant Director of Bryan Psychiatric Hospital, having responsibilities for adult and forensic inpatient populations.

As a faculty member of the University of South Carolina Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, she provided outpatient treatment and assessments for children, adolescents and adults. She provided training for psychiatry residents.

Dr. Forand provides individual therapy to persons ages 6 through late adulthood. Her therapeutic approach is integrative and pragmatic. It includes Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, supportive therapy as well as psychodynamic conceptualization.
