Have you been struggling with feeling anxious or having low motivation? Are you feeling overwhelmed by your thoughts? Annie works with adolescents and adults who deal with anxiety, depression, difficult life challenges, low self esteem, disordered eating, and other mental health issues. She uses cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, boundary and goal setting, and self compassion to help identify and work through negative and self critical thought patterns that cause anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. She desires to create a space of compassion, safety, collaboration, and respect in order to best identify unhelpful thinking patterns and provide tools to help people achieve their goals.

Annie counsels from that belief that empathy, hope, and compassion bring healing to people’s lives. Annie believes that each individual is unique and different techniques may be helpful for different people, thought patterns, and circumstances. Annie believes that brain health is important and that by creating a self care routine with coping and grounding techniques and challenging unhelpful thinking patterns with healthy thinking patterns, individuals can help regulate their emotions, create healing in the brain, and find balance in their lives. Annie also believes that sometimes medication is needed in order to best help in regulating thoughts and emotions, and may recommend seeing a psychiatrist to discuss medication options and management.

One of Annie’s unique offerings is walk-and-talk therapy . Annie believes that peace and restoration can be found in nature. Walk and talk therapy provides a space for movement and calming stress relief. The beauty and healing found in nature helps bring a new perspective to the counseling process. If you are interested in this, please ask Annie about walk-and-talk therapy.

Annie is originally from New Mexico, but has lived the majority of her life in Dallas. Annie graduated from Oklahoma State University with an undergraduate degree in Human Development Family Sciences and Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master’s degree in Counseling. She has a background in different settings, which includes, wedding and event planning, non-profit organizations, and treatment centers. Through these different experiences Annie has developed a passion for helping others find hope, purpose, and peace through different circumstances and seasons of life. Annie enjoys helping people find specific tools that enables them to achieve growth and what they desire out of life.

Annie is a fun-loving, kind, and compassionate therapist who aims to help people find purpose and joy in their day-to-day lives.
