April Duyn is the Substance Use Disorder Program Director at Western Psychological and Counseling Services. Prior to this April practiced mental health and addictions therapy in an outpatient setting with an integrative/harm reduction approach. She also has experience working in a residential treatment environment with adolescents and their families. She received her Masters of Arts in Marriage, Couples and Family Therapy with a specialization in Addictions counseling in 2010 and Bachelors of Science from Portland State in 2007. She holds an LPC, LMFT, MAC, CADCI, SUDP and currently working to become an LPC supervisor in Oregon. She has been working for Western Psychological and Counseling Services since April 2010.

Availability
April approaches the therapy process primarily through a strengths based, solution focused and structural family therapy lens which allows her to use techniques that build on client’s strengths, resiliency and the qualities they possess while helping them achieve balance in their lives. She also utilizes motivational interviewing, stages of change and dialectical behavioral therapy techniques in her practice. April enjoys co-constructing goals with clients in a directive yet collaborative manner so they play an active role in their therapeutic process. She believes approaching therapy in this way creates a safe environment where clients can feel motivated about the changes they want to make.
