Ashok Nagella, MD

Dr. Ashok Nagella is an ABPN Board Certified Psychiatrist that specializes in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He has been in practice for 20 years in various settings from inpatient to outpatient psychiatry, has supervised and taught psychiatry residents and medical students, and has worked with a very diverse clientele from private practice settings to community mental health. Dr. Nagella grew up and attended school in the Chicago area. He attended the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee for his Doctor of Medicine degree then completed his Adult Psychiatry residency at Loyola University Medical Center followed by Fellowship specialty training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Institute for Juvenile Research. He believes strongly in a holistic approach which involves complementing traditional psychiatry with education about the healthiest lifestyle habits (nutrition, exercise, and sleep hygiene among other habits) to optimize health. He has seen that many of his clients either need less medications or sometimes no medications at all eventually when lifestyle habits and coping improve. His hobbies include running, bicycling, reading, shooting baskets with his son, social justice advocacy and education, and spending time with his family. He is also a passionate environmentalist and animal lover. He is the father of twins who are 11 years old, has 2 dogs, and has been married to his beautiful wife for almost 19 years.
