Psychiatrist in La Jolla, California, Carol Lynn Trippitelli, MD

Carol Lynn Trippitelli, MD

I am a Board Certified Psychiatrist and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. I treat adults and adolescents ages 15 and older. I have strong experience in the treatment of all general psychiatric disorders and particular expertise in Mood Disorders (Depression and Bipolar Disorder), Anxiety Disorders and Eating Disorders. I perform a thorough evaluation to make recommendations for treatment with an individualized balance of medication, psychotherapy and lifestyle factors (such as exercise and nutrition), and then work closely with you to follow through on the treatment plan in a way that optimizes your outcome and quality of life. As appropriate, I coordinate your care with your primary care doctor and other sub-specialists. I completed my Psychiatry Residency Training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and a fellowship in Eating Disorders at The Center for Eating Disorders in Towson, MD. I received my medical degree from The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and a BA from Rice University in Biology and Philosophy.

Prior to moving to San Diego in 2019, I was in private practice in Washington, DC and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Georgetown University Hospital. I was named as one of the top doctors in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area in the Washington Post’s rankings based on peer review and also received the Vitals’ Patient Choice Award. Community involvement and staying in tune with the larger picture of mental health care delivery has always been important to me and in this regard I served for years on the Board of Directors of The Washington Psychiatric Society and as a member of multiple committees with The American Psychiatric Association. In addition to patient care, I serve as The Director of Collaborative Care and Community Development for Lifestance. In this capacity, I work with my colleagues both inside and outside of Lifestance to develop programs to integrate mental health into primary care and other medical subspecialties. In my free time, I enjoy exercise, skiing, most outdoor activities and cultural events, and living in beautiful San Diego.
