Carolyn Klotz, PMHNP

Carolyn Klotz is a dually board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and an adult nurse practitioner. In 2017, she completed a post-master’s nurse practitioner certification in psychiatric mental health from Alverno College and worked in a private practice behavioral health clinic for 4+ years. During this time, she attained expertise in identifying symptoms of ADHD in persons previously diagnosed with mood or anxiety disorders alone. She refers clients for formal testing to clarify diagnosis for treatment purposes. She sees all persons ages 18 to 65+ for assessment and management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, gender dysphoria, and medical evaluation for gender-affirming surgery. She treats women’s issues that include premenstrual dysphoric disorder, postpartum depression, and collaborates with OB/GYN providers on treatment of mood disorders during pregnancy. Her approach to care is holistic, patient-centered, and evidence-based. She collaborates with therapists and medical providers to achieve the best treatment outcomes. Prior to starting her psychiatric mental health career in 2018, Carolyn spent 10 years in palliative care as a board-certified adult nurse practitioner. In 2008, she obtained her MSN from New York University in the palliative care nurse practitioner program. She worked primarily in academic medicine doing palliative care consultations, pain, and symptom management, and helped to develop new palliative care programs in Albuquerque, NM and Milwaukee, WI. In her free time, she works on her ever-expanding mineral collection and enjoys gardening with native perennials.
