Lyn Morris is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Oregon who has been practicing since 1995. Lyn believes in treating the whole person. This means trying to understand a person’s dilemmas as experienced by that person, trying to help the person meet and manage psychological and emotional pain, and trying to foster resilience and self-efficacy to move through the world. Lyn believes that treatment begins when a person feels listened to and understood, so she is an attentive listener. She believes that psychiatric treatment is a partnership between herself and the other person, so she tries to stay attuned to the person’s wants and needs. Lyn uses pharmacology when this will likely be helpful, and for some people this is the mainstay of treatment with her; for others it is the therapeutic connection which becomes the mainstay. In her spare time, Lyn is an avid swimmer and aspiring violinist, enjoys much family time with children and grandchildren, loves driving her stick shift VW bug and taking her Havanese for long walks, and is a lifelong reader, devoted to Tolstoy.
