Presently, Dr. Navalta is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and a core faculty member in the Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine Program at Boston University School of Medicine where he teaches master’s-level graduate students how to competently provide evidence-based counseling, psychotherapy, and psychological treatment.
  He is also an investigator and clinical research supervisor at the Trauma Center at Justice Resource Institute.
  He was formerly on staff at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute & Hospital, Institute for Child Development (SUNY), May Institute, Tufts-New England Medical Center, Cambridge Health Alliance, New York University School of Medicine, McLean Hospital, and Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Navalta combines a developmental psychopathology framework with a systems perspective to provide evidence-based psychological treatment for children, adolescents, and adults, including behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), parent training and guidance in positive behavioral support, and trauma-informed care.
