Charles Kopecky, M.D. is a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Kopecky obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio before moving to Houston in 1980. He is a Clinical Psychiatrist providing assessments and medication management for Mood, Neurocognitive, Addiction and Thought Disorders in Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patients.
He obtained his Medical Degree from University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School at Houston where he also completed his residency in psychiatry. Practicing psychiatry for over 29 years in the Houston area has afforded Dr. Kopecky the opportunity to experience a variety of challenges and rewards as a professional. He has treated patients of all ages, every social status with a variety of disorders in both Public and Private sectors. He has participated in Leadership roles as President of Medical Staff at HCPC,Medical Director of PES for MHMRA and Medical Director for multiple Chemical Dependency Programs. He has been an Educator for Medical Students and Psychiatric Residents. He has provided Administrative Service to UT Medical School and HCPC as a participant in various committees including selection of medical students and psychiatric residents. Additionally, Dr. Kopecky has been active in Research as Participant and Co-Investigator on outpatient research protocols at Mental Science Institute Addictions Clinic.
Dr. Kopecky has been practicing psychiatry in various capacities in the Houston area since 1989 including; 10 years of private practice, 8 years as an Assistant Professor at UTHSC at Houston Medical School as well as an Attending Psychiatrist at Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC).For the past 12 years Dr. Kopecky has been providing Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) for MHMRA at the Neuropsychiatric Center.
