Cyndi Borgman, LMSW
As a Lansing native and therapist, I have been fortunate to work alongside our diverse community of teens, couples and adults on a wide range of mental health issues. Some of these include anxiety, life stressors, trauma, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, relationship issues, depression, psychosis, overuse of technology, medical/pain disorders, grief and loss, insomnia, LGBTQ+ struggles, and pandemic adjustments.
I strive to be an active partner in creating a collaborative and strength-based process to move through these issues, develop skills to cope more effectively and have improved lives. Some methods to accomplish this are: motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral techniques, dialectical behavior therapy, optimizing problem-solving, cognitive processing therapy, exposure and desensitization, meditation, lifestyle modifications, and integrated health approaches. These I learned while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Michigan State University and a Master of Social Work degree from Western Michigan University, as well as ongoing and continuing education, and my experience of 30 years in both the public and private mental health sectors.
