Dan Medlock, DNP PMHNP-BC, LPC, CSAC, EMT-B, is a graduate from Rush University’s Doctor of Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing Program and Rush University’s Generalist Master of Nursing program. He also is a graduate of Cardinal Stritch’s University’s Master of Clinical Psychology program. Dr. Medlock has trained at Rush University Medical Center, Northwestern Memorial Hospital Stone Institute of Psychiatry, and Froedtert Medical Center. He has been employed by Rush University, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Aurora Psychiatric Hospital, Ascension Psychiatric Department and Renew Counseling Services. Dr. Medlock is presently an Assistant Professor at Rosalind Franklin University’s Doctor of Nursing Practice, the Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program.

He is a trained and licensed professional counselor, a psychiatric nurse and an DNP who has worked with adults, children, and adolescents in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. He has treated all facets of psychopathologies from anxiety disorders, ADHD, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, traumatic stress, grief, bereavement, personality disorders, addictions, a wide breadth of co-morbid conditions and neurocognitive disorders. Dr. Medlock has experience as a psychiatric liaison on medical units, performed neuropsychiatric assessments for decisional capacity and fit for duty evaluations.

Dr. Medlock is a licensed prescriber of psychotropic medications, is trained and tenured EMDR practitioner, Levels 1 and 2. He is also currently working on advancing to EMDR Certification. He uses a variety of medical, nursing, psychological and other approaches with individuals from Reiki (he is trained and certified as a Reiki Master and Instructor), HeartMath Biofeedback techniques, depth, to transactionally based psychotherapies.

He is focused on, but is not limited to, working with individuals who have experienced psychological traumatic stress disorders which, has found him working with individuals exposed to transgenerational traumas, underserved populations, military veterans, and first responders. He understands that many of the adverse experiences in life can leave one feeling outside of their usual “self”, so he is committed to collaborating with individuals to innovate and customize treatment plans to mitigate the uncertainties that we all face in life at times.
