Therapist in Chicago, Illinois Elizabeth Mengar, LSW

Elizabeth Mengar, LSW

Elizabeth Mengar, Licensed Social Worker, views developing a relationship with her client as her initial role in a therapy session. By doing this, Elizabeth allows a nonjudgmental environment to be fostered where both her client and she can begin to acknowledge strengths that each of us innately has, while also addressing and processing the areas where we each can grow mentally, emotionally, and physically. Elizabeth takes a person centered, trauma informed, strengths based approach while providing multiple therapeutic modalities that are individualized initially based on the concerns that are brought into session. Elizabeth received her Master’s in Social Work (specializing in Organization and Community Practice) from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her Bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. In her down time, Elizabeth loves finding a new restaurant with her friends and loved ones, walking around the neighborhood, knitting, listening to live music, and continuing to learn about how diverse the human experience is. Areas of interest: ● Anger Management ● Anxiety ● Depression ● Gender Affirming Counseling ● Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Counseling ● Social Anxiety ● IPV/DV Interventions: ● CBT ● Psychodynamic ● Psychoeducation ● DBT ● Mindfulness
