Hana Crnovrsanin, LSW
Hana Crnovrsanin is a Licensed Social Worker in Illinois. She has an MA in Social Work from The University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work and a BA in Sociology and Criminal Justice from North Park University. Hana has personally experienced a variety of difficult life circumstances and conditions that placed her in a position to understand, validate, and create a safe space for individuals to not only express their current life stressors but to also have them understood. Due to coming from a non-traditional background and upbringing as a refugee in the United States and a first-generation immigrant to emotionally un-attuned parents, Hana knows how difficult it is to feel alone, misunderstood, and lost. Because of her personal exploration of self and desire to understand the impact of her childhood, as an adult Hana was guided towards a path of healing deep childhood wounds. That greatly equipped Hana to understand the deep pain of human suffering and she has been blessed to be able to learn how to work towards healing and developing a sense of hope that there is a life worth living, no matter how difficult things may seem in the moment. Through her own intentional, mindful practices, Hana has cultivated a variety of tools, skills, and mindsets to alleviate her past experiences with a variety of mental health difficulties. She is therefore attuned to the dynamics of engaging in a helping profession and is knowledgeable in client-centered approaches to therapeutic work and navigating therapy through the lens of the particular individual she is working alongside. Due to her own cultural and ethnic background and lived experiences in a number of different countries, Hana would also say that she is unique in being able to accommodate a variety of different backgrounds and identities, and through her experiences, has learned how to value, respect, and engage with individuals of all different paths of life. In her free time, Hana enjoys spending her day with her toy poodle, Mario. She loves to explore the beautiful city of Chicago, find new parks to walk her pup, and admire the beautiful scenery and landscape that this city has to offer. As a past sociology major that continues to adopt a curious and open mindset, she also spends her free time learning through research, books, and listening to podcasts. Outside of work, she loves to engage in physical activity as well. In the past, she loved weight training, however, throughout the last 2 years, has developed a profound love for yoga, which she engages in several times a week to further enhance a meditative and mindful state and practice. She enjoys going to group therapy sessions at her favorite coffee shop, Coffee, Hip Hop, and Mental Health, as well as group meditation sessions with a meditation coach weekly. Having lived in several European countries, she also enjoys traveling back to Europe where she gets to spend time with her family, all of which live in Europe, as well as friends that she made while living abroad. She also has a great passion for fashion, with streetwear being her favorite mode of attire, resulting in her spending a lot of free time shopping, with her favorite finds being at vintage or thrift shops.
