Irini Gouzos, PsyD, MEd

Dr. Gouzos has worked with diverse individuals of different races, ethnicities, religions, age, and sexual orientations in a variety of settings. In addition to training at both inpatient hospitals and outpatient practices, Dr. Gouzos completed one of her internships at Keystone Extended Care Unit, in Chester, PA, working with individuals struggling with sexual compulsivity and trauma. This experience fostered her interest in working with clients who struggle with relationships and adult attachments. Dr. Gouzos also has experience working with couples, families, and individuals presenting with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, complex trauma, PTSD, substance use, personality disorders, sexual health concerns, sexual disorders/dysfunctions, and psychiatric disorders. Dr. Gouzos approaches clients from a relational and insight oriented standpoint, believing that both the relationship the client has with the self, along with the relationship established between therapist and client, are integral to treatment and progress. She uses a variety of techniques and methods (including, but not limited to, cognitive behavioral strategies, dialectic behavioral therapy, and mindfulness) and will tailor the therapeutic treatment to match a client’s strengths and desired goals. Dr. Gouzos grew up in Orchomenos, Greece and thus is fluent in Greek, both written and spoken, and welcomes the chance to work with Greek speaking clients.
