Therapist in Fairborn, Ohio Julie Swain, LSW

Julie Swain, LSW

Julie Swain is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Ohio who has been practicing since 2021. Julie achieved a dual bachelors in 2002 from Ohio University in Psychology and Communications, after which she spent 8 years working in the mental health field. The majority of those years included providing school-based services within local metropolitan and suburban high schools supporting teenagers. In addition, she has five years of experience working part-time in the inpatient hospitalization setting with youth and adults seeking mental health treatment. Julie received a Master of Arts in Social Work from Miami University and Wright State University in 2021. Her clinical experience includes providing two years of school-based therapy to teenagers and providing therapy in the outpatient setting during this time as well. Julie has a passion to meet each individual where they are on their individual journey, and to help them realize their unique potential for change through her empathic and empowering approaches. Julie enjoys working with individuals and families. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma Informed Care approaches. Her strengths-based perspective allows her to help individuals and families to better understand the process of change in their lives by apprehending their resiliency and capacity to grow. Julie helps her clients to become aware of their unique relational attachment styles by helping them to explore their interpersonal histories, and to make connections with how those histories impact their patterns of relating to others. Julie is passionate to help her clients recognize the value of understanding themselves through this framework, as each person’s unique way of relating can impact many areas of life. As her clients are empowered to recognize their barriers to connection and communication in a safe space, they often then will begin to heal in their personal and professional relationships too. Outside of being a mental health therapist, Julie enjoys taking hikes with her four children and their golden retriever. Road trips to new places, playing sand volleyball, listening to music in her hammock, and meeting friends for coffee are also some of her favorite pastimes!
