Kara Freeman is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor-Supervisor through the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and English with a multi-cultural certificate from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She then attended The Ohio State University where she received her Master of Arts in Counselor Education with a focus in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Previously, Kara worked at Directions for Youth and Families as a community-based counselor working with children aged 5-17 and their families. She completed her clinical internship at Ohio Dominican University working with college students. She has experience treating various issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, life transitions, impulse-control, and relationship concerns. Kara takes a primarily client-centered approach to counseling. In addition, she utilizes some different approaches as needed to best fit client needs such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), strengths-based approach, motivational interviewing and solution-focused therapy. Kara’s ultimate goal is to provide a safe place for clients to explore their feelings and help them develop positive tools to reach their goals.
