Katherine Morales Dixon, PhD

Dr. Katherine Morales Dixon completed her pre-doctoral internship at University of New Hampshire Psychological and Counseling Services and is currently completing her post-doctoral fellowship at LifeStance Health. Therapy can be an intimidating process, but Dr. Dixon aims to create a safe space where the client can develop trust and truly open up. Dr. Dixon values the therapeutic relationship, and always checks in with clients to examine client feelings about treatment and incorporates this feedback into the therapeutic work. This is what makes therapy a collaborative process, where treatment feels tailored to every client’s needs. Dr. Dixon is committed to multicultural awareness in her personal and professional experiences. She has worked with individuals of various races, gender, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, socio-economic backgrounds, and ability-status. Dr. Dixon was trained as a generalist therapist and has worked with wide-ranging mental health concerns related to anxiety, mood disorders, life transitions, relationship and interpersonal issues, faith and spirituality, career, meaning-in-life, trauma, grief, and cultural identity. Dr. Dixon approaches therapy from an integrative perspective, drawing primarily from psychodynamic, interpersonal, and person-centered therapy. She believes a non-judgmental stance, empathy, and genuineness are essential conditions for developing a strong therapeutic relationship with a client. Dr. Dixon sees therapy as a collaborative process and aims to work with her clients to uncover and combat the harmful messages internalized from past experiences and relationships. Her therapeutic approach aims to improve clients’ relationship with themselves and others. Dr. Dixon invites you to bring your true self into sessions, embracing the awkward and vulnerable moments that comes with knowing more about yourself. It certainly isn’t an easy process, but it can be highly rewarding! In her free time, Dr. Dixon appreciates a good international romantic drama which not only satisfies her love of cheesy and sappy stories, but also gives her a peek into different cultural norms and practices. Dr. Dixon also loves trying out new cultural foods and traveling!
