Kim Giancaspro, LCSW
My clients are adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, mood difficulties, and/or a history of trauma. Others are in the midst of a life transition of some sort and have chosen to engage in therapy as a tool to assist them in learning new coping strategies. Research has confirmed that talk therapy – sometimes referred to as psychotherapy – is often very helpful for folks who are dealing with mood and/or relationship difficulties. In some cases (but not always), people will benefit from medication as well. If medication is part of your solution, I am a strong advocate for open communication between your prescriber and your therapist. Establishing a strong therapeutic rapport is paramount to achieving your goals. I work hard to understand the unique stories of each of my clients, and we work together as you learn and practice new coping techniques. Most often, therapy will conclude within a reasonable time frame (once you have met your therapeutic goals). My treatment style is eclectic, and includes a strengths-based, supportive, short-term if possible, solution focused approach. I incorporate some cognitive behavioral strategies and I tend to assign homework to most of my clients. If this sounds like an approach that may meet your therapeutic needs, please contact LifeStance to schedule an appointment. I am currently working part-time (limited availability, two days per week) and am seeing clients both in my Midlothian office as well as virtually. In addition to private practice, I have worked in community and hospital settings. When not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, as well as reading and several outdoors sports and activities. I look forward to meeting and working with you!
