About Lindsey Hoover, LPCC

When you’re in session with Lindsey, you can expect to feel accepted, valued, and attended to in a compassionate way. You’ll be treated with unconditional positive regard and empathy. Lindsey’s humor and humility will help you feel at ease.

Lindsey takes an egalitarian approach to counseling and considers the client to be the expert on themselves. Anxiety, depression, and a negative self-image are some of the issues Lindsey can help her clients address, along with overcoming a hopeless mindset to become more empowered. The techniques Lindsey uses include broaching, active listening, reflection, summarizing, open and goal-oriented questions, affirmation, and highlighting strengths. Her clients can learn coping skills to help manage stress and to become more intrinsically motivated to adopt behavioral changes to improve their overall health. They also can learn breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, and broadminded affective coping skills. The modalities Lindsey leans on are person-centered, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Relational Cultural Therapy.

With a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Lindsey has experience working in community and university mental health with both individuals and groups. She’s also a certified health coach and is interested in the connection between food and mood.
