Melinda S Warner, EdD, ABPdN

Melinda S. Warner, Ed.D., ABPdN provides a comprehensive approach to therapy treating depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and adjustment to changes in life circumstances. Parents, nurses, teachers, grandparents and other caregivers enjoy her sense of humor enjoy and benefit from counseling with Dr. Warner.

Dr Warner provides consultations for children and young adults from birth through age 22. She specializes in the treatment of children with questions of developmental disorders, medical and neurological disorders, spina bifida, multiple kinds of genetic conditions, stress-related disorders (e.g., headache, chronic pain, IBS, insomnia, hypertension), depression and anxiety disorders. She also treats those with concerns related to education, learning, and development, as well as those looking to make health-behavior/lifestyle changes.

Dr. Warner provides individual therapy using a relational, play-based approached with very young children, and a more verbal, problem-based approach with older children. She utilizes a variety of modalities including stress-management/relaxation techniques, mindfulness-based interventions and Motivational Interviewing (MI) depending on clients’ needs and ability to tolerate a given approach. CBT counseling is available when or if Dr. Warner feels it would be the most effective modality.

It is her strong belief that no child is “too young” nor “too damaged” to be helped by a well-trained, highly-experienced clinician. Depending on the age and development of the child, she may work with the child alone, the parent alone, or with the child and their primary caregiver simultaneously. In addition, Dr. Warner feels more than comfortable working with people of all ages whose lives have been touched by mass disaster.
