About Melinda Warner, PhD

Melinda Warner treats patients up to 98 years old
Melinda S. Warner, Ed.D., ABPdN provides a comprehensive approach to therapy treating depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and adjustment to changes in life circumstances. Parents, nurses, teachers, grandparents and other caregivers enjoy her sense of humor enjoy and benefit from counseling with Dr. Warner. Adults navigating changes in their careers and relationships work with Dr. Warner on defeating their negative, limiting beliefs. Dr. Warner provides individual therapy using a relational, play-based approached with very young children, and a more verbal, problem-based approach with older children. CBT counseling is available when or if Dr. Warner feels it would be the most effective modality. Dr. Warner provides other evidence-based psychological treatments as well. Her areas of specialty include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, stress-related disorders (e.g., headache, chronic pain, IBS, insomnia, hypertension), and health-behavior/lifestyle changes. She utilizes a variety of modalities depending on clients’ needs and ability to tolerate a given approach. These include, but are not limited to; stress-management/relaxation techniques, mindfulness-based interventions and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Specialized training in work with low birth weight and/or premature babies was acquired when Dr. Warner worked with NICU Follow-up teams at Boston Children's Hospital and then at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children - North Shore, Salem, MA. It is her strong belief that no child is "too young" nor "too damaged" to be helped by a well-trained, highly-experienced clinician.
