Melissa Bryson, LCMHCA

Melissa Bryson is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina who has been practicing since 2018. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Human Services and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Montreat College. She specializes and enjoys in working with women, children, and adolescents in conjunction with marriage and family therapy where applicable. Additional areas served include adults, couples, and group therapy. Melissa’s goal as your therapist is to be a conduit of restoration and healing by empowering you to function holistically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.

Melissa is empathetic to the client’s needs and provides a safe place for the client to feel, release, and grow. Her experience includes working as a PRN in a residential group home for children and adolescents, therapeutic foster care, individual therapy, and group therapy. She has been involved in various areas of volunteer work with both women and children. Melissa also serves as an Adjunct Professor teaching Psychology courses. Her interests are to help women, children, and adolescents process and navigate through traumatic experiences, to help them find their voice and expose truth, to advocate for children’s welfare, for stronger laws relative to adoption and foster care, for victims of human trafficking, and to help create functionality in the family unit where trauma has resulted due to a break in the family dynamic.

Melissa believes in a collaborative approach of working with clients and will help each client develop his/her specific counseling goals and strategically plan to reach those goals. The collaborative relationship involves a therapeutic and trusting relationship between the client and the counselor in hope of facilitating continued growth and development once therapy has ended. Her philosophy is that self-awareness is a catalyst to empowerment spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally. People come to counseling because they want something to be different in their lives. Melissa’s therapeutic approach includes but is not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution- Focused Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-Centered Therapy.

In her free time, Melissa enjoys reading books, listening to smooth jazz, interior decorating, and art. Her personal passion is that self-awareness is a catalyst to empowerment spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally.
