Melissa O’Brien, RD
I completed my undergraduate and graduate work in Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics at Illinois State University where I also completed my Dietetic Internship. Throughout my career as as a Registered Dietitian I have worked in the hospital setting as a clinical dietitian, clinical nutrition manager, and assistant director of patient services and in the community setting as the nutrition director at the Senior Services Center of Will County. Most recently, I worked as a retail dietitian at a local grocery store chain. I have also served as adjunct faculty and as a dietetic internship preceptor.
As a Registered Dietitian I enjoy applying my knowledge and past experiences to present clients with practical and easy to understand nutrition counseling and education. I believe that providing individualized guidance that aligns with the lifestyle, preferences, and beliefs of the client assists in reaching each person’s unique health and nutrition goals. I aim to provide information and suggestions that are relevant in everyday life.
In my free time I enjoy being active with my husband and daughters, spending time with my family and reading.
