In sessions, Mercedes creates a safe space for clients to look at and wrestle with their self-limiting beliefs and behaviors due to self-doubt, shame, faith and trust issues that lead to taking responsibility for their lives. Mercedes believes in a treatment philosophy that includes a holistic approach tailored to employ practical and results-oriented treatments. She utilizes integrative modalities that are consistent with the unique needs and core values of the clients she serves. She often utilizes CBT, DBT, Person-/Child-Centered Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Mindfulness-based therapy, Christian Faith-based therapy.

On a personal note, Mercedes enjoys travelling while volunteering for humanitarian services; gardening and nature are her passions; hanging out and playing with children keeps her young at heart.

Mercedes is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Illinois. She received her Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Trinity International University. Mercedes completed her internship in counseling at A Safe Place for Domestic Violence and Family Visitation Center.
