Micah Mammen, PhD
Dr. Micah Mammen is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in early childhood mental health and development. Early childhood can be a joyful, but frequently challenging time, and seeking support early on can make a big difference for children and their families. Dr. Mammen works with young children (birth to 6 years of age) and their families to address a variety of concerns, including fear/anxiety, sadness/withdrawal, social/relationship difficulties, sleep disturbances, noncompliance, aggression, tantrums, adapting to changes (e.g., in family structure, daycare), and difficulties resulting from traumatic experiences. Using her training in a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques (e.g., attachment-based, cognitive-behavioral, trauma-focused, mindfulness), Dr. Mammen takes a flexible and collaborative approach to therapy. Dr. Mammen values the uniqueness of each child and family, and she enjoys helping families develop their own strategies for making family time more peaceful, fulfilling, and fun. Dr. Mammen views therapy as an opportunity to support caregivers and help young children learn important lifelong skills, such as recovering from disappointments, communicating their feelings appropriately, and navigating sibling/peer conflicts.
Dr. Mammen completed her doctoral training in Child Clinical Psychology at The Pennsylvania State University. As part of her clinical internship at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, Dr. Mammen attained Infant Mental Health Specialist and Child-Parent Psychotherapy certifications. Throughout her training, Dr. Mammen gained extensive experience assessing and treating young children with attachment difficulties.
