Michael Ralph, LICSW
Michael is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who received his Masters Degree from the University of New Hampshire. In 2010 Michael worked for Center for Life Management (CLM) in Derry NH as a functional support counselor for children and adults. He provided therapeutic services to distressed individuals within locations such as school, work, home or general community environment. In these community settings he taught coping skills, built social skills and provided crisis stabilization. Following completion of his Masters Degree in 2016, Michael started working at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in their inpatient Behavioral Health Unit and Partial Hospitalization Program. His roles in these clinical settings consisted of providing individual & group therapy, crisis intervention, discharge planning, and coordination with social/professional supports.
In terms of therapeutic approach Michael believes everyone is worthy and capable of love and happiness and works collaboratively to address the types of painful struggles that can lead to feelings of inadequacy, sadness, unworthiness, hopelessness, and anxiety. His approach focuses on identifying patient strengths, building upon those strengths and respecting every individual’s right to make their own choices and decisions. His philosophy is to treat the individual and not just their diagnosis.
Michael utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and Wellness Recovery Action planning (WRAP). Through the use of these modalities he’s assisted many clients in being able find themselves again and reconnect with the many joys of life.
