Laura Young, MSN, PMHNP-BC, NP, PMHNP
She continued to excel in her career, being nominated many times for Daisy Nursing awards, obtaining her trauma nurse certification, and being a charge nurse in a trauma intensive care unit, along with responding to trauma activations in the emergency room. Laura found a passion for mental health along the way and decided to go to graduate school for her master s degree and specialize as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. During those three years, she continued to work full-time in the intensive care unit. She was a frontline worker in the Covid pandemic, while still holding onto her passion of mental health. Laura completed over 800 hours of clinical time with social workers, therapists, and a psychiatrist, along with completing her nurse practitioner degree in August 2021 from Maryville University. She went on to achieve board certification in September 2021 and has been actively working in diagnosis and medication management since October 2021.
Laura remains passionate about mental healthcare and is a major advocate for mental health in her community and beyond. In her free time, Laura enjoys the outdoors, and traveling with her husband and son, spending time with her parrots, watching Chiefs, Royals, and KU basketball games, and lives in the Kansas City area.
