Dr. Lucy Magda, PMHNP

Dr. Lucy Magda (“Dr. Lucy”) is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, born and raised on the eastern shore of Maryland. She began her registered nursing career in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where she worked to stabilize the most critically ill patients. It is there that her interest in mental health flourished as she witnessed first-hand how essential mental health is for the overall wellbeing of her patients. She realized that there is no health without mental health. Dr. Lucy and her husband followed her passion for mental health to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she obtained her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) in the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner specialty. The devotion she feels towards individuals suffering from a mental health disorder stems from the stigma that these patients face. In her own fight against the stigma surrounding mental illness, Dr. Lucy seeks to optimize each client’s strengths in order to fulfill goals associated with improved health outcomes. Dr. Lucy’s passion for mental health enables her to treat patients across the lifespan, with a broad interest of mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), mood disorders, personality disorders, schizophrenia, addiction, etc. Dr. Lucy has experience treating patients in underserved populations including pediatrics (ages 8 and above), LGBTQ+, ethnic/racial minorities, pregnant/breastfeeding women, homeless individuals, etc. She is also certified to perform Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) utilizing magnetic stimulation as an alternative treatment for depression among other mental health disorders. Dr. Lucy believes in an interprofessional practice model, through which she provides high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with other healthcare providers and family members involved in the client’s life. Her holistic approach to healthcare connects the mind and body for clients to reach the highest possible quality of life. She emphasizes the importance of each individual therapeutic relationship in all of her patient encounters. In her free time, Dr. Lucy enjoys hiking, creating art, and spending quality time with her pets and her family.
