Patricia Beal, LMFT

My name is Patricia Beal, LMFT. I am a graduate of Mount Saint Mary’s University with a Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology with specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have been working in the field of mental health for several years both as lead clinician and a supervisor. I take an honest, empathetic, and active approach to understanding my clients, where they can feel safe, comfortable, and heard. I recognize that everyone comes to therapy for various reasons, and through collaborative discussions, we can navigate and explore those needs together, finding the best approach. My therapy style is integrative, as I greatly value the flexibility it affords. I pull from various treatment modalities, including, but not limited to, Psychodynamic, Mindfulness-Based, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral, and Cognitive-Behavioral therapies, adapting treatment to each individual case based on a variety of factors. Ultimately, my goal is to provide practical tools to alleviate symptoms and cope with present life challenges, while also helping to build a stronger sense of self, awareness, and well-being in an environment that feels safe and comforting.

I know this can be difficult and I believe it reflects great strength. Though you may not be able to see your own strength right now, I will hold the knowledge of it for you while we work together to help you live a rich and meaningful life. Ultimately, I aim to help you become your own therapist so that you can be confident in your ability to handle life’s many challenges and opportunities. I work with a wide range of age groups including adults, transitional age youth, adolescents, children and specialize in mindfulness. My specialties include anxiety, depression, self esteem, grief and loss, traumatic stress, relational issues, and adjustment and transitions. Therapy can be scary, and I often see individuals being so hard on themselves for “failing; however, I like to remind my clients that we don’t have to be a product of our environment. Your history does not define or limit you. The key is to figure out how to evolve and grow in the direction you need. If you are seeking therapy and willing to do the arduous work of growing, you are already more than halfway there! I look forward to meeting you and getting to know how I can best help you on your journey.

The most beautiful people I’ve known are those who have known trials, have known struggles, have known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. – Elizabeth Kubler-Ross.
