About Philip Fischer, MD, DFAPA

Dr. Fischer completed his internship in internal medicine at University Hospitals of Cleveland and his fellowship in psychiatry at the Cleveland Clinic, where he served as chief resident. He earned his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. A Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, he is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with added qualifications in geriatric psychiatry. Dr. Fischer is past director of the Laurelwood Hospital Chemical Dependency Program, where he was president of the medical staff and chairman of the executive committee. He also served as president of the medical staff of Windsor Hospital, behavioral health medical director for Geauga Hospital, and director of the University Mednet Department of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neurology. A senior clinical instructor for Case Western Reserve University, Dr. Fischer also has served in a variety of positions for the Ohio Psychiatric Association and Cleveland Psychiatric Society and is a member of the Board of Directors of Physicians for Social Responsibility. Dr. Fischer's specialty interests include psychopharmacology, short-term dynamic psychotherapy, chronic pain management, chemical dependency, adult Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and geriatric psychiatry.
