Psychologist and Therapist in Mechanicsville, Virginia Teresa Endsley, PhD, LPC

Teresa Endsley, PhD, LPC

The counseling relationship to Dr. Endsley is unique where the therapist and client build a relationship built on trust and openness. It is a relationship where the client understands that the therapist is dedicated to the well-being of the client and that positive change is the ultimate goal of the therapy process. Dr. Endsley approaches therapy from a systemic view where the individual is seen as part of an environment, where all behaviors are explainable within their contexts and that understanding patterns assists in understanding issues and clarifying solutions. She often uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) methods and draws strongly from Positive Psychology. She offers different therapeutic approaches with clients of all ages and backgrounds, including individual counseling, couples and family counseling, group counseling, and play therapy beginning with children of six years of age. Dr. Endsley has worked with many marriage and family issues, including relationship and communication issues, childhood development concerns, grief counseling, pre-marital counseling, second/combined family interventions, divorce counseling, children and youth, geriatrics, military families, and issues concerning organizations and the workplace. She is also experienced in working with incarcerated youth, both male and female. She has extensive experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. She is accustomed to working collaboratively with psychiatry for medication management. Dr. Endsley earned a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Capella University in 2018 and a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 1991. She received licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in 1994 and is also licensed in the state of Virginia as an LPC.
