Dr. Rae Egbert (they/them) is a clinical psychologist with more than 10 years of experience in the behavioral health field. Prior to receiving their doctorate in clinical psychology, Dr. Egbert worked in various clinical and community health settings providing care to underserved populations. During their training, Dr. Egbert focused their work on traditionally underserved communities in New York. While working to obtain their PsyD, Dr. Egbert founded and directed a community-based mental health clinic for the LGBTQ+ community at their alma mater LIU Post. They also obtained a graduate certificate in LGBT Health Policy and Practice from The George Washington University.

Dr. Egbert completed their pre-doctoral internship at the Northport VAMC, working primarily with Veterans with trauma and adjustment disorders as well as substance use disorders. Dr. Egbert completed their postdoctoral fellowship at the Behavioral Health College Partnership at Zucker Hillside Hospital, Northwell Health, where they worked with college students in acute mental health crises and developed programming for LGBTQ+ patients.

Dr. Egbert’s therapeutic approach is influenced by third-wave cognitive-behavioral therapies, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Dr. Egbert has received specialized training in Compassion Focused Therapy, family systems therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Dr. Egbert approaches each new patient with curiosity and compassion, utilizing each person’s individual strengths to build a unique treatment plan that fits their current situation.

In their spare time, you can find Dr. Egbert with their family and dog outside, probably playing in the woods or out on the water!
