My primary focus as a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) in the state of New Jersey is to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for my clients. I want my office (or virtual office) to be a place where my clients can feel safe and fully express themselves. I strive to make it a judgement-free zone. My style is eclectic. It is client-centered in that I always meet my clients where they are in their unique stage in life. I am always genuine, empathetic, and accepting of my clients in accordance with the Rogerian model. However, I also incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) into my sessions.
I received my Master of Arts in clinical psychology and certification in School Counseling at Saint Elizabeth University. At Saint Elizabeth, I completed my Practicum with emerging adults in college. I completed my internship at High Bridge Middle School where I worked with children. I was the school counselor at Our Lady of Good Counsel Middle School where I also worked with a young client base. I worked at Child Play Therapy where I incorporated play therapy to assist children in expressing their thoughts and feelings. Most recently, I was a counselor at The Counseling Center at Roxbury. I ran group sessions and worked individually with my clientele.
Many of my clients struggled with substance addiction with concomitant mental health concerns. However, some clients just came for individual psychotherapy with non-substance abuse challenges. Typical issues for my clients were anxiety, depression, anger, and anorexia nervosa.
When I’m not in session or keeping up to date on psychological research, I am spending time with my son, Alexander, who is my pride and joy.
