Susan (Becky) Williamson, LCSW, RN
Becky obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work in the 1990’s at the University of South Florida in Tampa. In order to better advocate for and to help her clients, she later obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing at Ball State. She has worked in a variety of settings in almost three decades of practice, including outpatient, inpatient, shelters, schools and nursing facilities. She uses several types of treatment modalities including CBT, motivational interviewing and ACT, but believes that the relationship between therapist and client is the most important piece. WIthout a strong foundation based on trust and respect, the type of therapeutic intervention doesn’t matter.
Becky has always been a strong advocate for her clients and for those who are under represented. She continued that advocacy while she was working as a supervisor; striving to ensure both her staff and the clients being cared for by that staff were heard and acknowledged. Whether it was attending IEP meetings or doing classroom observations, or writing letters to court and facilitating discussions with family providers, the best interest of the client is at the heart of everything she does. Becky has extensive experience working with clients aged from 6-99+, by utilizing individual, family and group sessions, and assisting those struggling with life changes both expected and unexpected. Areas of expertise include assisting those dealing with addiction, anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger management, bipolar disorder, trauma and stress, and childhood disorders.
Becky’s ‘Life Stance’ is that each difficulty we encounter is an additional opportunity to learn and grow together, so that we may fully experience and enjoy our lives.
