Ahxia Stanton, LMHC

Ahxia Stanton is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York who has been practicing since 2021. She received her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at SUNY New Paltz. Ahxia provides holistic psychotherapy with a focus on BIPOC/ WOC, Couples, and young adults. Her experience entails providing direct counseling to those struggling with anxiety, depression, and self-image. Ahxia also works with couples dealing with infidelity, newlyweds, premarital and other attachment issues that may strain a relationship. Her counseling style, especially in the beginning stages of therapy, is very laid back and more focused on getting to know each other and building a relationship because she feels it is the most important thing for making therapy successful.

In working together with clients, Ahxia’s goal is to provide a confidential, supportive, and caring environment to help you feel safe and valued enough to share your challenges. She aims to honor your lived experience and assist in helping you process the impacts it has on your daily life and provide the most effective methods to help manage your symptoms. Ahxia provides holistic psychotherapy with a focus on BIPOC Millennials and Gen Z.

Her experience entails providing direct counseling to children, adolescents and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, and issues with self-image. As a woman of color, Ahxia understands firsthand how difficult it can be to find a provider that not only fits your needs but also looks like you. It has always been a goal of hers to fill this ever-present need in Mental Health care. Ahxia utilizes a variety of treatment modalities and tailors her approach to meet the needs of each client, but she has a strong foundation of CBT & DBT. Ahxia is here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now and offer you a place to be open and honest without judgment.

While she does think coping skills and learning ways to manage/alleviate symptoms are important to therapy and will eventually come as your work together continues, Ahxia prefers to spend more time understanding you rather than jumping straight into “fixing” things. Her hope is for you to feel empowered and trust in your ability to manage whatever comes your way! Outside of work, Ahxia loves to read, ride her motorcycle, and travel as much as possible.
