Heather A. Olson, MSSW, LCSW

Heather A. Olson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed School Social Worker. She is a child and adolescent therapist who sees ages 5-17. She received her LCSW Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2007. She graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Master s Degree in Clinical Social Work in 2003. She has counseled children and adolescents with severe behavioral and emotional disorders and/or developmental disabilities, has been an adoption counselor, a therapist in a partial hospitalization program at an outpatient mental health clinic, has counseled in the school setting 14+ years, has done medical social work in two large hospitals, and has been in private practice.



Topics for individual and group counseling may include but are not limited to child and adolescent mental health issues, mindfulness, grief and loss, anger management/emotion regulation, bullying, social skills, school/academic issues, executive functioning, coping skills, behavioral issues, self-esteem, character education, resolving conflicts, stress management, health and hygiene, healthy relationships, identifying and expressing feelings. Heather does not specialize or see clients with eating disorders, abuse/addiction, obsessive compulsive disorder, or sexual abuse. She does not do family counseling. Heather considers herself an eclectic therapist incorporating a variety of therapeutic principles and philosophies to create the ideal treatment to meet the needs of the client including interpersonal, cognitive behavioral, solution focused, psychodynamic, and dialectical behavior therapy.



In her free time, Heather enjoys spending quality time with her three daughters, husband, family, and friends, traveling especially to beach destinations around the world hiking, chasing waterfalls, being outdoors, pool and lake days, cooking, walking/exercising, movies, bowling, golf range, sporting events, music events and festivals, and anything fun.
