Paula Swartz is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Wisconsin who has been practicing since 2020. She has a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Paula Swartz is a dedicated trauma-informed therapist with a passion for helping individuals reclaim their lives after experiencing traumatic events. With more than three years of direct clinical experience and seven years in the social services field, Paula has witnessed the transformative power of therapy and witnessed the incredible strength and resilience that comes with being a human being.
Throughout her career, Paula has worked with adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds who have faced various forms of trauma, such as invalidation, physical or emotional abuse, sexual assault, or interpersonal violence in residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care. In addition to trauma work, Paula has ample experience in addressing self-harm, non suicidal self-injurious behavior, difficulties in emotional regulation, struggles with managing interpersonal relationships, perfectionism, anxiety, depression and other mood disorders with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
Paula’s therapeutic style thrives from the belief that the healing foundation begins with a genuine, honest, nonjudgmental human connection. She shows up to each therapeutic relationship with much credence that it is an honor to walk alongside you as you share your experiences with her. Paula’s therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from evidence-based modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Schema Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She tailors her treatment plans to meet the unique needs and goals of each client, fostering a collaborative and empowering therapeutic relationship.
Paula firmly believes that every person has the capacity to heal and lead a fulfilling life, irrespective of the experiences that they have endured. Her role as a therapist is to guide individuals through their healing journey, providing support, validation, and practical tools to develop resilience and regain control over their lives. Paula wants you to remember that healing is possible, and you are not alone. Outside of work, Paula enjoys spending time with family and friends, curling up with her cat, reading, and watching all things true crime.
