Victor McGregor, APN
Victor McGregor, PMHNP-BC, Ph.D., s an extensive career in both psychology and psychiatry. He earned
his Ph.D. in Depth Psychology from ion Institute and University, and his PMHNP from Columbia
University, Advanced Post Master Psychiatric Nurse Training Program, and his Masters in Psychiatric
Nursing from the University Pennsylvania. Dr. McGregor is motivated by the diverse complexities of the
human mind, and explores the underlying biological, psychological, social, developmental, and even
metaphysical elements of holistic health. He focuses on finding the specific healing factors that promote
change and wellness in his clients.
Dr. McGregor engages his clients in deep dialogue to find the balance between pharmacotherapy and
other therapeutic interventions. He feels that taking time with clients is important to building a strong
therapeutic relationship and to help ensure the safe and effective treatment of his clients.
Dr. McGregor draws from several core theoretical domains, including Jungian psychotherapy, Polyvagal
theory, Circadian Rhythm theory, and modern psychopharmacology. This allows him to offer a rich and
varied approach to healing that is aligned with the holistic aims of a nurse practitioner, in conjunction
with his roots in psychoanalysis.
New patients will find that Dr. McGregor emphasizes the role of mindfulness in the process of
pharmacotherapy, and is deeply interested in their individual, cultural and social histories. He focuses on
the mind-body connection and its influences on presenting mental health problems, and encourages his
clients to further explore their own experiences with this apparent dichotomy. Dr. McGregor firmly
believes that treatment with medication is not complete without the necessary role of behavioral and
social interventions, including behavioral therapies, (like CBT & Operant Conditioning), family therapies,
and peer support. This comprehensive view of treatment helps those in his care find strength in their
relationships to their medications, themselves, and others.
Dr. McGregor treats a wide variety of mental health issues, including but not limited to anxiety
disorders, panic, depression, adjustment disorders, bipolar disorder, personality disorders and (SPMI)
severe & persistently mental Illness and even those with homelessness.
