Dr. Xu received her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Loma Linda University. She completed her doctoral internship in clinical psychology in the neuropsychology track and her post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Massachusetts Mental Health Center/Harvard Medical School. She is a member of the International Neuropsychological Society and the Massachusetts Neuropsychological Society. Dr. Xu has published and presented research at many conferences and in peer-reviewed journals. She continues to collaborate on research projects examining predictors and mediators of psychiatric conditions on neuropsychological performances.
Dr. Xu provides neuropsychological evaluation and treatments for individuals with medical/neurological conditions (including dementia, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, head injury, brain tumor, epilepsy, sleep disorders, substance use), psychiatric disorders (including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia), and neurodevelopmental disorders (including ADHD, learning disorders, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability).
She values the importance of individualized care by providing patients and their families with an in-depth understanding of their level of cognitive functioning. Her goal is to optimize their functional and cognitive status by providing recommendations/interventions, implementing potential compensatory strategies for symptom management, addressing modifiable lifestyle factors, while collaborating with members of the treatment team to improve their overall quality of life.
