Parents who are queer, non-monogamous, or kinky can feel alone and unsure of who they can talk to about their experiences.

Get Started

Group Overview:

Parenting in our society is a highly heteronormative institution, with a vast number of assumptions baked in about what a family looks like – and this can be incredibly alienating to parents who don’t feel like they fit that mold.

Parents who are queer, non-monogamous, or kinky can feel alone and unsure of who they can talk to about their experiences.

Participants: This group is for any parent who identifies as queer, kinky, non-monogamous, or a combination, and wants other people to talk to about their experiences.

Cost: Insurance and self-pay are accepted in Illinois

Virtual Online Sessions – This group currently meets virtually online and not in-person

Facilitator:

Dave Lovely, LSW

Dave Lovely is a Licensed Social Worker in Illinois. He has a Bachelor’s degree in English, a Master’s in Library and Information Sciences, and a Master’s in Social Work. Dave transitioned to mental health after two decades in corporate life, so he understands that life can be complicated and take unexpected turns. Sometimes we need compassionate, thoughtful advice from someone else who’s been there, too! Dave has an enormous range of prior life experience that he brings to his work as a therapist, on issues ranging from workplace discontent to LGBTQIA+ life to neurodivergence to blended families. Dave is also queer, nonmonogamous, and a parent! Outside of work, Dave is an avid gamer, loves movies and music, and is involved with both the medieval reenactment and furry communities.
