Daniel Smithberger, MSW, LISW,
About Daniel Smithberger (He/Him)
Daniel Smithberger believes that meaningful change begins with feeling understood, supported, and equipped with practical tools for growth. At LifeStance Health, he provides individual and family therapy for teens, adults, and older adults throughout Ohio. Daniel works collaboratively with clients facing anxiety, depression, and trauma-related challenges, helping them navigate life’s difficulties while building resilience, emotional balance, and healthier relationships.
Daniel is especially passionate about supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and PTSD/trauma. He understands that mental health concerns can affect every aspect of a person’s life and tailors treatment to each client’s unique experiences, strengths, and goals. His approach emphasizes creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore challenges, develop insight, and make lasting changes that support their well-being.
Using evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR, Daniel helps clients develop effective coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and work through difficult life experiences. He also offers additional therapeutic interventions to meet the diverse needs of the individuals and families he serves. Whether addressing emotional distress, relationship concerns, grief, or behavioral challenges, Daniel takes a thoughtful and personalized approach to care.
As a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Supervisor, Daniel combines clinical expertise with genuine compassion. He earned his education from The Ohio State University and Capital University, where he developed a strong foundation in evidence-based mental health treatment and client-centered care.
Outside of his professional work, Daniel enjoys playing music and is passionate about guitar, drums, and bass. He also enjoys soccer, traveling, and spending time outdoors with his family. These interests help him maintain balance and reinforce his belief in the importance of connection, creativity, and overall wellness.
