In many cases, yes. If the psychiatrist determines that medication is clinically appropriate during your initial evaluation, they may provide a prescription the same day. In some cases, the evaluation may span more than one visit, require screening tools or collateral information, or completing other assessments, such as lab work, before starting treatment.
LifeStance psychiatrists and nurse practitioners prescribe a wide range of evidence-based psychiatric medications, including antidepressants, mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, and ADHD medications. However, this is not a complete list. Your provider will determine the most suitable option based on your diagnosis and medical history.
