Therapist in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Inez Porter, LCSW

Inez Porter, LCSW

I am Inez Brooks Porter. I am originally from New York City and have resided in Michigan for twenty-nine years. My approach to therapy is based in the belief that awareness is one of the primary keys to change. “You can’t change what you don’t see.”

My goal is to aid you in self-awareness (ergo helping you to see) then working together we can tackle the things that you now see that you wish to address and/or change. Change is a process and it is not easy but it is very doable. If you are willing to work, I am here to help guide you down that path. I use several different therapeutic methods; Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Informed therapy are a few.

I began my higher education at Queens College and completed it at Eastern Michigan University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, have an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, am a Certified Couples and Family Therapist and
attained a CAADC (Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor). I have held employment at Community Mental Health agencies, substance use disorder agencies, HIV/AIDS agencies, and homelessness shelters. I have worked in this field for twenty plus years and I enjoy what I do. My suggestion is please, make sure you find the right therapist for you so you can get what you need from this experience.

For fun I like to fish, sing, binge watch TV (yeah, I do that!!!), travel and spend time with family and friends.
