About Ashley Lyons (She/Her)

Ashley Lyons is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing psychiatric assessment, medication management, and brief psychotherapeutic intervention for adult patients ages 18-65. Ashley prioritizes the client’s preferences while using evidence-based practices along with her clinical knowledge to create unique treatment plans. Before earning her advanced nursing degree, Ashley gained a decade of diverse experience providing psychiatric, substance use-focused, and trauma-informed supportive services in a variety of clinical settings, including outpatient and inpatient settings, as well as in residential and community settings. Prior to becoming a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner she held many different roles which enhance her ability to meet clients where they are at, including as an advocate, non-profit program director, and registered nurse. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, prior to joining LifeStance, she provided psychiatric, and substance use treatment to patients on an acute inpatient locked unit. Ashley’s diverse background and experiences have shaped her approach to mental health care. She combines evidence-based practices with a deep understanding of trauma-informed care, cultural sensitivity, and compassion-focused approaches. By integrating these principles, Ashley fosters a safe and non-judgmental environment where individuals feel empowered and supported in their healing process. Ashley values collaboration and open communication with her patients. She believes in the importance of building strong therapeutic relationships based on trust, respect, and active involvement of patients in their treatment decisions. Her goal is to empower her patients to regain control of their mental health, enhance overall well-being, and lead fulfilling lives. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, she is committed to being an accountability partner on the client’s journey to becoming the best version of themselves. Ashley firmly believes that most people are doing the best they can with the knowledge and resources they have at any given moment. She views both herself and the medications she prescribes as essential tools in a client’s recovery. By equipping clients with the right education, the right medications, and empowerment, they can actively participate in their mental wellness journeys, utilizing these tools to achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being. This approach transforms mental health treatment into an active, participatory process, empowering clients to take charge of their own wellness rather than being passive recipients of care. Outside of her professional pursuits, Ashley loves spending time with her family, being a soccer mom, and snuggling with her two big dogs, who she regrets not having named Serotonin and Dopamine! She also enjoys attending comedy shows because laughter truly is great medicine. While she finds cooking tedious, she has a passion for delicious food, so dining out or ordering in is her guilty pleasure. However, a nice hike outdoors always takes the guilt out of it.

See what our patients are saying about Ashley Lyons

I wouldn’t normally write a review on a medical provider on Google, but I was showing a friend my med provider, and I honestly had to read the negative review here twice because I cannot reconcile it with the provider I know. My last two psychiatrists did 15 minute appointments, and one saw me maybe once or twice a year. Ashley spends 30 to 45 minutes with me every single appointment, sometimes longer when I’m really struggling. I doubt she makes much more money giving me that extra time, but she does it anyway. She’s transparent, informative, collaborative, and really easy to talk to. I trust her. She explains her reasoning, gives me options, and actually asks what I think. She’s challenged me to look at my own role in treatment, helped me with sleep and boundaries, caught symptoms that led to finding out I was anemic, done paperwork for me, and even met with my family when I needed help explaining what I was going through. The comment that she “only cares about the payday” is especially confusing because the cancellation policy isn’t even hers. It’s LifeStance’s. My provider before her had the same policy. Ashley told me she waives the first one as a courtesy, which she did for me, and considers actual emergencies. I do 1099 work myself and require deposits because my time matters too. If people could just not show up for appointments without consequences, I don’t know how anyone could work that way. She’s extremely clear about what she can and can’t do and why certain boundaries exist, and honestly, it’s refreshing. I always know what to expect from her. She’s also never presented herself as a doctor to me. At our first appointment she introduced herself as, “I’m Ashley, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with LifeStance.” She signs her messages that way and it’s on her profile. She clearly loves what she does, and I prefer someone like her over most of the doctors I’ve seen. She’s actually had me thinking maybe I want to go back to school to become a nurse. I’ve absolutely had providers who made me feel like an appointment on their schedule. Ashley makes me feel like a person. I’ve never had a provider like her. Hopefully she sticks around.

Ashley is truly a difference maker on my life. I explain my mood and fears and she breaks it down in a clinical way that explains why I feel the way I do sometimes. I’ve never had a provider that uses experience and research to be so well rounded while also listening to my thoughts on my treatment.
