Shana Freeman, PMHNP,
About Shana Freeman (She/Her)
Shana Freeman, PMHNP, is dual certified as a women’s health nurse practitioner and as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She earned her WHNP and PMHNP both from Duke University. She is also nationally certified as a perinatal mental health provider through Postpartum Support International. Shana helps adults and older adults across North Carolina navigate mental health challenges with compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care and medication management. At LifeStance Health, she works collaboratively with patients to better understand their symptoms, develop individualized treatment plans, and support meaningful progress toward improved emotional well-being. Shana treats a wide range of conditions, including anxiety, depression, and ADHD, while offering care that is respectful, personalized, and rooted in clinical expertise. A significant focus of Shana’s practice is supporting women through reproductive and maternal mental health concerns. She is especially passionate about helping individuals experiencing perinatal mental health concerns, including but not limited to postpartum depression, anxiety, reproductive challenges, perinatal mood disorders and women’s mental health needs across different stages of life. Shana understands the unique emotional, physical, and psychological transitions that can accompany pregnancy, postpartum recovery, fertility concerns, and other reproductive experiences. Her goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where patients feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their treatment journey. In addition to working with women’s mental health concerns, Shana provides psychiatric care for adults facing mood disorders, attention difficulties, trauma-related concerns, and other mental health conditions. She has experience serving diverse populations, including individuals in the LGBTQ+ community, military veterans, and adults with developmental disabilities. With expertise extending beyond her primary areas of focus, she offers support for a variety of additional behavioral health needs and works to ensure treatment is tailored to each individual’s circumstances and goals. Known for her warm and relationship-centered approach, Shana enjoys building lasting connections with her patients and creating a welcoming environment where compassionate care comes first. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, spending time with her daughter whenever she has a break from college and taking care of her corgi and Doberman pinscher.
